Jeff Bezos has been investing heavily into Blue Origin, with the hope of unlocking the untapped potential of space tourism and travel. However, people on the internet have expressed their unease with a petition that calls to restrict Jeff Bezos’s entry back to Earth after the spaceflight.

The Petition banning Jeff Bezos to re-enter Earth

The Change.org petition has already gained more than 11,000 signatures in a week. The petition addresses Jeff Bezos directly and states “the fate of humanity is in your hands” as a joke.

Just a month ago, Jeff Bezos announced on his official Instagram account that he will be going on the sub-orbital spaceflight by Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft along with his brother on the 20th of July. Furthermore, two auction winners will also be present on the same spaceflight.

Among the two auction winners, one has confirmed his/her seat for a full A$36 million. According to Blue Origin representatives, the proceeds from this auction will go to the Club for the Future initiative by the company that aims to encourage science and technology education among children.

Funnily, people who have signed this petition have also asked Jeff Bezos to take along the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

The petition stated, “This may be our last chance before they enable the 5G microchips and perform a mass takeover.”

Though, this is not the only bizarre petition on the internet. Another internet petition requests Jeff Bezos to buy the Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo Da Vinci and to eat it.

While Jeff Bezos continues to fund space missions, MacKenzie Scott, his ex-wife has donated a significant sum to several charities. These also include charities that support racial justice. The 51-year-old is more focused on philanthropy.

Jeff Bezos has not made a public comment on the petition yet. Though, he stated earlier in an Instagram post that he had always wanted to travel to space during his childhood. He also added that he will now enjoy the space journey with his brother, who is also his best friend.

In other technology news, the original World Wide Web source code written by Tim Berners-Lee is going on auction as an NFT.
