Tom Ford Slashes the Price of His Magnificent New Mexico Ranch

The impressive 22,000-acre ranch has a western movie set

The property market crunch is seemingly impacting the celebrities these days as renowned fashion designer (and also well-known for his designer perfume line), Tom Ford has reduced the price of his magnificent New Mexico ranch. By how much has he slashed the price? Read on to know.

Tom Ford first listed the property in 2016 where the asking price was USD 75 million (about 110 million AUD) for the 22,000-acre ranch. But as he couldn’t find any buyers in three years, he has cut the price by USD 27 million (about 40 million AUD), and its current asking price is USD 48 million (more than 70 million AUD).

The property earlier belonged to a rancher, Bill Cook and was known as Cook Ranch. When Tom Ford bought it in 2001, he changed the name to Cerro Pelon (Bald Hill) Ranch. After buying the property, he commissioned a Japanese architect, Pritzker Prize-winning Tadao Ando and asked him to create a single-story modern concrete compound that overlooks the reflecting pool. Ando also designed the main living quarters.

Tom Ford’s ranch is home to Silverado, a western movie set that was used in a variety of films over many decades. It was built in 1984 and gained fame when it was used for the film Silverado. After that, it was seen in 2011’s Thor, Wild Wild West, 3:10 to Yuma, All The Pretty Horses and Cowboys And Aliens.

As Tom Ford is a fan of horse riding, the ranch has stables too. It has two private guest houses, a tennis court, a private runway and a hidden warehouse. The details on the interior of the main home are still hidden, but we can imagine how awesome it will be.

Though Tom Ford is clearly interested in selling the ranch, it is also obvious that he will miss it because he is loving a simple life. In an interview, he said, “I am happier at my ranch in the middle of nowhere, watching a bug carry leaves across the grass, listening to silence, riding my horses and being in open space.”
