Up to 200 symptoms of long COVID have been reported in a new study which includes aggression, hallucinations, tinnitus, and a reduction in penis size or testicles. The study looked at the long-term reported symptoms of COVID-19 holistically to compile a list.

Long COVID and penis size

In this study, around 3762 people belonging to 56 countries were looked at holistically. These included people who were either confirmed to be suffering from long COVID or are suspected to. Researchers found up to 203 potential symptoms out of which 66 symptoms were tracked for 7 months.

Brain fog, post-exertional malaise, and fatigue are reported as the most common symptoms. However, some other lesser common side-effects of long COVID include itchy skin, tremors, sexual dysfunction, blurred vision, and reduced penis size.

Regarding the study, Dr. Athena Akrami stated, “A lot of post-Covid clinics in the UK have focused on respiratory rehabilitation. It’s true that a lot of people have shortness of breath, but they also have a lot of other problems and types of symptoms that the clinics need to provide a more holistic approach to.”

The doctor further mentioned that the study offers the “most comprehensive characterization” of the symptoms of long COVID currently.

Furthermore, experts have also suggested doing a national screening program that could help doctors develop a more thorough understanding of the ways in which COVID-19 affects people. It is also important to set up new clinical guidelines to assess and diagnose it in people.

Dr. Athena further added, “There are likely to be tens of thousands of long Covid patients suffering in silence, unsure that their symptoms are connected to Covid-19.”

People have reported a reduction in penis size and sexual dysfunction as one of the lesser common side-effects of COVID for months now. However, this study is the first of its kind, that explores the possibility of this effect along with many other symptoms.

In other news, experts now believe that Johnson and Johnson’s COVID vaccine might increase the risk of suffering from the Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
