Knives Out was one of the most successful films of 2019. Directed by Rian Johnson, the comedy murder mystery was also critically acclaimed. So, when the news of its sequel broke out, we were quite ecstatic.

 

The confirmation regarding the Knives Out sequel came during the quarterly earnings call of the Studio when Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated that a green light had been given to the follow-up of the hit movie. It is likely that the entire star cast of the film, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, and Toni Collette will be back for the film.

 

Talking about the numbers, Knives Out has earned USD 300 (AUD 446) million and has also got several awards like BAFTA, WGA, Academy Award and Critics Choice Awards nominations for Best Original Screenplay. Johnson had earlier stated that he already has an idea for a Knives Out sequel. He also stated that he would be willing to do an entire series of Benoit Blanc mysteries.

 

It is not the first time Lionsgate is planning to make the most of the success of a hit film. This year, Lionsgate has given the green light to I Still Believe, which will be a follow-up to the hit by Erwin Brothers, I Can Only Imagine that will be probably out in March. Spiral, a re-imagined Saw film that stars Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock will come in May, and Hitman’s Bodyguard sequel is planned for August.

 

The sequel of Knives Out is such an a amazing news that celebrating it would be essential for all movie buffs who like fun films with an element of mystery to it. It is also likely that if this sequel proves to be another hit, you may see several sequels to the film and it can one day turn out to be a franchise everyone wants to be associated with. For now, the fans can only hope that the sequel will return with the key stars and would be as exciting as the original film.
