Bill Gates and Melinda Gates Settle For a Divorce After 27 Years of Marriage

They will continue their philanthropic work together

After a marriage of 27 years, Bill Gates and Melinda gates have settled with a divorce. Regarding the divorce, the couple just released a Twitter statement saying, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”

They further said, “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was perhaps one of the most notable public projects that the couple managed together during their married life. In fact, it is the largest philanthropic NGO in the world.

Established in 2000, the primary aim that Bill Gates had in mind was to eradicate diseases and to reduce world poverty. For instance, the foundation has spent billions to make sure that vaccinations become accessible to the underprivileged lot. The prime focus has been the third-world countries with poor access to basic health facilities and hygiene.

Currently, one cannot say much about how the leadership of their philanthropic organization will be affected. However, based on the entire joint statement that Bill Gates just tweeted, it looks like the organization will continue to function.

The net worth of Bill Gates is estimated to be around $124 Billion. Hence, he lands on the 4^th spot in the 2020 world billionaires list. Though, after stepping down from the Microsoft board, Bill Gates solely dedicated his time and energy to philanthropic work along with Melinda Gates.

In fact, the couple has already pledged to give away most of their wealth into charity during their life and death. For instance, the children of Bill Gates will reportedly only inherit $10 million each while the rest of the money will be used on humanity’s abundance.

Though, speculators are particularly considering whether the divorce will influence the couple’s joint philanthropic efforts. As of now, there is no reason to believe that any of their charitable efforts will come to a halt. Perhaps, Bill Gates and Melinda Gates will continue to work together and/or on solo projects here forward.
