Bill Murray and the Gang will Return in Ghostbusters 2020

“Who are you gonna call?”

It does not seem possible to replicate the classic ghost comedy of Ghostbusters. The all-woman reboot in 2016 was definitely a flop. While some of the criticism that influenced the film was quite patriarchal in nature, it also true that lightning doesn’t strike twice; evil ghosts and laughs are sometimes hard to pull off. It doesn’t seem to bother original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson that recapturing Ghostbusters magic may be a challenge: Aykroyd recently confirmed that they’re all coming back for Ghostbusters next year—and they’ll be joined with some familiar faces.

Ghostbusters co-creator Dan Akyroyd confirms he’ll appear alongside returning co-stars  Bill Murray , Sigourney Weaver and  Annie Potts  in the Jason Reitman-directed Ghostbusters 3, so far known as  Ghostbusters 2020 . Aykroyd (…) produces alongside Reitman’s father, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman, for Sony-based Ghost Corps.

A direct sequel to the continuity established in 1984, GB20 will focus on a so-far unnamed family portrayed by Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel, Annabelle Comes Home), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT) and Carrie Coon (Fargo, Avengers: Infinity War), with Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame, Living With Yourself) playing a  seismologist and teacher. 

That’s right, together with, Ivan Reitman’s son, Jason, the old gang is getting back together for Ghostbusters 2020.

When Dan Aykroyd went toThe Greg Hill Show , he said, “Jason Reitman wrote a beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the real DNA from the first two movies and transfers that directly to the third, the next generation.” 

“It hands the legacy off… to a new generation of stars, and players, and actors, and characters.”

 

The actor and producer also said that, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, had finished filming their parts in the movie. Also, Ernie Hudson will be playing Winston Zeddemore again, confirmed by a cameo that was posted last September.

Will Ghostbusters 2020 — be like Terminator: Dark Fate where movies after the second movie would be deemed irrelevant? — really give the laughs, ghosts, ghouls and monsters, and, uh, more slime?

We’ll find out when bill Murray and the gang when hit theaters on July, 2020.
