Billie Eilish revealed on her Instagram earlier today that she could be working on the James Bond movie and the news has now been confirmed by the official James Bond twitter account. Eilish, who was five years old in 2006 when Daniel Craig became 007 in Casino Royale, is also unique and impressive among previous well-known artists who have attached their signature voices to Bond films. The news officially makes Billie Eilish the youngest person to record a James Bond theme. And she is a perfect fit.

The Twitter account also tweeted the following statement from Ocean Eyes singer Billie Eilish: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

BBC also released some details about the song:

Eilish’s take on the oeuvre was composed with her brother Finneas O’Connell, with whom she created her Grammy-nominated debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? last year.

“Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives,” he said.

“There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise. Long live 007.”

Bond songs have a certain charmed existence, notes the BBC, as previous pieces—Adele’s “Skyfall” and Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall” —have both won Oscars.

Billie Eilish had all along dropped hints, most recently in her Instagram account in which she shared pictures of great Bond Girls from past movies in her stories.

This is not the only major music development for No Time To Die — in a post published Monday on the official website of Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli confirmed prolific film composer Hans Zimmer will also score the film.

Bond 25 is set to be the last role of Daniel Craig as 007. The plot of the film allegedly shows the secret agent putting the retirement on hold after his CIA friend asks for assistance. In the end, he meets Rami Malek as Safin, an adversary unlike any he has ever known before.

We’re looking forward to Billie Eilish’s Bond theme. No Time To Die shows on screen on April 8, 2020.
