New Black Widow Trailer Pits Natasha Against the Taskmaster
Black Widow – Marvel Studios

Black Widow was named as the second most anticipated films of 2020 on the list released by Fandango. To keep the anticipation at the peak, Marvel has released a Black Widow trailer that unveils a lot about the Black Widow and her enemies. The film deals with Natasha’s past and will try to answer any questions about Natasha’s life as a Black Widow.

This Black Widow trailer is certainly better and more elaborate than the first Black Widow trailer. This Black Widow trailer teases a reunion between Natasha and the characters from her past which include Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. The latter might become the next Black Widow in MCU Phase 4 or 5 because she is the second Black Widow in the comics series.

As Natasha died in Avengers: Endgame to help Hawkeye get the soul stone, it is likely that the Avengers would need another Black Widow soon. The star cast also includes David Harbour, who plays the role of Red Guardian, which can be considered a Soviet equivalent of Captain America. In a scene, he refers to Natasha and Florence as her family.

The highlight of the Black Widow trailer is certainly Natasha’s fight with the Taskmaster. The Taskmaster vs Black Widow battle has been teased since San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Taskmaster is a trained mercenary whose real identity wasn’t revealed in the trailer, but the taskmaster would prove to be a worthy enemy.

For the uninitiated, Taskmaster is an antihero from Marvel Comics as he can mimic the physical capabilities of anyone he is pit against. The taskmaster first made an appearance in May 1980 via Avengers #195. In addition to the taskmaster, Natasha can also be seen fighting a bunch of Black Widows at once.

In essence, the Black Widow trailer has confirmed a few things. First, Natasha’s hands will be full in the film as she has to deal with a lot of enemies while being on the run. Second, the mysteries of her past will be solved in the film, and third, the film could provide a better ending to Natasha’s character as compared to Avengers: Endgame.
