From today onward, Victorian residents can grab free travel vouchers of $200. There is a total of 120,000 of these that value at $28 million total. Though, the Business Victoria website has already crashed as thousands of people try to grab a voucher. After all, it is a first come first serve opportunity,

And chances are that this opportunity will simply end soon. Martin Pakula, the Tourism Minister said that the demand will exceed the supply.

He further added, “It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy an extra nights’ accommodation on a weekend getaway or to experience one of our many tours and attractions,”

However, things did not turn out well for the Business Victoria website. Looks like the website had to struggle a lot with traffic initially.

Within 30 seconds of the offer going live, the website became slow. Then, a message saying ‘500 Internal Server Error’ popped up on the website earlier at 10:00 am.

By 10:00 am, the ‘Apply Now’ button could also not be seen. Well, there is no surprise here. Not just Business Victoria, but any other website would become unresponsive if that happens.

At around 10:30 am, the ‘Apply Now’ button came back live. However, it would result in a message saying ‘unable to process request’ when users clicked on it.

The exact message was “Servers are temporarily unable to respond to your request … We apologize for the inconvenience”.

These travel vouchers apply in all of Victoria. Furthermore, these vouchers will remain valid from December 12th until May 2021.

But according to the Business Victoria website, there are some requirements.

Firstly, anybody who claims the voucher should be a resident of Victoria older than 18. Apart from that, one must spend over $400 on tourism, tours, or rents.

With that, one must also pay for two nights of accommodation within the mentioned period. Lastly, there can be just a single voucher for one house.

Despite these conditions, the Business Victoria website had to deal with large traffic. This is not a first of its kind offer. Previously, the NSW voucher scheme has been launched.
