Avatar was one of the most successful films of 2009 that smashed many records and made a special place in the hearts of the audience. James Cameron intended to release sequels, and the fans couldn’t wait for them. Things got super-delayed as Cameron needed to develop tech that could film performance capture underwater, which is tough. As a result, the first Avatar sequel, Avatar 2 will release in 2021.

The official account of Avatar Twitter released four concept art pieces for Avatar 2 that look quite unusual and unreal. The art pieces don’t tell us much about the plot, but they do provide a wider view of Pandora. Some people are comparing the concept art to video games too. Interestingly, the concept art was released around the same time Mercedes-Benz released an Avatar concept car (smells like smart marketing).

Talking about the plot of Avatar 2, the film is set 12 years after the first movie. It includes a human child that was born at Hell’s Gate military concept. Neytiri and Jake Sully have kids too. The concept art also shows the Pandoran ocean, which implies that many of the film scenes might be underwater (for which Cameron needed the upgraded technology).

The cast of Avatar 2 is also bigger and better. Though Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington would reprise their roles of Neytiri and Jake, they will be joined by Cliff Curtis and Kate Winslet. The latter would be the members of the new Na’vi clan. Stephen Lang will also reprise the role of Colonel Miles Quaritch, and Sigourney Weaver will also be back as Grace.

Avatar 2 will be released in 2021, Avatar 3 will land in theatres in 2023, Avatar 4 is scheduled for 2025 while Avatar 5 will be released in 2025.

People who haven’t watched the original Avatar film yet or can’t recall the entire plot can view it on Disney Plus before the release of Avatar 2. It will ensure that a viewer can connect the plot details of both the films and know the characters as well as their goals.
