Honda has recently confirmed that its vehicle, Honda NSX, will get a high-performance variant. The key attraction of the high-performance variant is that it will have a Type S moniker.

The announcement regarding the addition of the Type S moniker was made recently. It was confirmed that Honda NSX would debut during Monterey Car Week that will be organized in California on 12 August (US time).

Acura believes the Honda NSX Type S will “[raise] the already impressive performance of Acura’s cutting-edge electrified supercar to new levels, delivering more power, quicker acceleration, sharper handling, and a more emotional driving experience.”

The Honda NSX will have an enhanced version of the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 and hybrid system that was found in standard versions of the car. The torque and power outputs are not confirmed till now. It might also have a drift mode function that will power only the rear wheels.

About 350 examples of the car with Type S moniker will be built. From those, about 300 Honda NSX’s will be for the US market. This will be the last variant of NSX as the vehicle will be discontinued in 2022 in the US. The orders for Type S will begin from August 12 only.

One of the reasons why the high-performance variant with the Type S moniker is getting so much attention is that it has some visible changes this time. The second-generation Honda NSX has been there for six years, and in all this time, it has seen only a few changes like special colour launches or small performance tweaks.

Images of the Honda NSX Type S leaked on Instagram sometime back, and the visible changes caught the attention of car lovers all over the globe. In the images, fans could see that the car’s rear was taller and narrower than before. The centre vent was wider, but the spoiler and taillights were similar to the previous models.

Speaking of cars, did you have a look at Mercedes-Benz S-Class Guard that can handle bullet and grenade attacks?
