Italian Artist Salvatore Garau Sells Invisible Sculpture For USD $18,000
Salavatore Garau sells an invisible sculpture.

Just recently, Salvatore Garau, an Italian artist auctioned a sculpture for USD $18,300. Initially, the price was between €9000 and €6000. However, after some bids, it went up to €15000. However, the most interesting thing about this sculpture is, that it is invisible! Yes, that is right.

In layman’s terms, the sculpture does not even exist. However, it is the concept that sells. The 67-year-old artist, Salvatore Garau says that his sculpture is immaterial. This means that the sculpture has no physical form.

Well, critics have not spared a moment to troll or make memes out of the sale on social media. However, Salvatore Garau suggests that his invisible sculpture is not simply “nothing”. Instead, he says that it is a “vacuum”.

Regarding his invisible sculpture, he stated, “The vacuum is nothing more than a space full of energy, and even if we empty it and there is nothing left, according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, that ‘nothing’ has a weight.”

According to Salvatore Garau, the invisible structure must kept in a private area measuring 5 x 5 feet with no obstructions. In other words, nothing should block the view or line of sight. However, any specific environmental conditions and lighting are not required since it is an invisible structure.

In this purchase, the only material thing involved is the authentication certificate which will be stamped and signed by Salvatore Garau. That is like proof of the purchase.

Though, this is not the first invisible sculpture that the artist has sold. Just a month ago, he sold another non-existent sculpture called “Buddha in Contemplation”.

Salvatore Garau also stated that the space in which he exhibits his sculptures gets concentrated with thoughts and ideas. That is what gives his invisible sculpture value. According to him, art is subjective.

In other news, the Croatian car manufacturer, Rimac just unveiled the most-awaited Rimac Nevera. This electrical supercar could become the fasted EV in production. However, like everything luxurious, a limited number of this vehicle will enter the market, and that too, with a hefty price tag.
