After visiting Naoshima, an art island in Japan that was designed by Tadao Ando, a Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Kanye West seems to be obsessed with the place. He described the art as life-changing and even stated that he would prefer to live inside a James Turrell sculpture.

Though that dream isn’t quite feasible, Kanye West has bought a Malibu House for US$ 57.3 or AU$ 78.95 million. It was an off-market deal, and the property is part house and part sculpture. Interestingly, it is among the few Ando-designed homes that are present in the USA. It is being speculated that Kanye West doesn’t have a mortgage on the property.

After spending such a spectacular amount, Kanye West has got a house that’s about 4,000 square feet. It was sold by Richard Sachs, a retired Wall Street financier who you might remember as the ex-boyfriend of Ashley Olson. He bought the property in 2003 for US$ 1.9 (About 2.62) million. He put in a lot of effort to build the property, which included 200 tons of steel reinforcement, 1,200 tons of poured concrete, and 12 pylons that were driven 60 feet into the ground. The three-storey house resembles a military-grade bunker.

The lowest floor of the home has three ensuite guest bedrooms, and the middle level has public areas. As you might have guessed top floor is meant for the owner. It has a penthouse-level bedroom suite, a rooftop oceanside terrace that looks at a stunning beach below. The house now owned by Kanye West was built by Ando in collaboration with Marmol Radziner, an L.A.-based architecture firm.

The new house is just 30 minutes away by car to the Hidden Hills compound that was built by Kanye West with his now-estranged wife, Kim Kardashian. That property is still the home of Kim and the children of the couple.

In addition to these properties, Kanye West also owns a huge ranch in Wyoming and two condos in New York City building. He also has over 300 acres of vacant hillside land on the Calabasas’ outskirts.
