Kanye West - Why the Name Change to Ye Could Make Him Richer
West has filed papers to officially change his name to be known simply as Ye.

Kanye West, the billionaire rapper has decided to officially become known as ‘Ye’. This name change could significantly help his business and make him richer.

Kanye West changes his name to Ye

For “personal reasons”, the fashion and entertainment mogul decided to file a petition at the Los Angeles Superior Court to change his name. Once that happens, the rapper will no longer be known as Kanye Omari West.

Perhaps, the most peculiar thing about his new name “Ye” is that there is no middle and last name. Instead, it is a single name, that Kanye West has long used for himself in phone calls, social media, and in his music.

For instance, back in 2018, Kanye West also released a studio album under the name “Ye”. Similarly, he also declared on Twitter, “I am YE.”

From what it looks, this decision by Kanye West has more to do with self-expression and identity. Though, the new name is also going to be great for his business interests, according to marketing experts and reputation managers.

The CEO of BoldHause stated, “Authenticity is what drives relevance today, and the biggest risk for a fashion brand is not to be relevant.”

Currently, Kanye West aka Ye has a net worth of $1.8 billion. Out of this, $1.5 billion is estimated to have come from his sneakers brand, Yeezy. In particular, Yeezy and Ye have a lot of visual similarities. And this could have further drive awareness for the brand by increasing conversion.

According to a marketing professor at the University of Virginia, “He is doing something that garners attention from the media and therefore drives awareness among consumers, and he’s doing it in a way that connects his brand to his sneaker business and drives interest in it.”

This is not the first time that a global brand would have trimmed its name to appear more relevant to younger people. So, Kanye West is unwilling or wittingly doing something that may help boost his fortune.

In other news, Cristiano Ronaldo is all set to return to Manchester United, a club that he played for between 2003 and 2009 before becoming the GOAT.
