Lord of the Rings Season 2 is Already Ordered by Amazon
Lord of the Rings

Amazon is so sure of the success of J.A. Bayona’s take on the Lord of the Rings that it has ordered a second season before the completion of the first season. The pre-ordering of the second season is not a surprise for many people as they are aware that Amazon is aiming for Lord of the Rings 5-season TV series from the beginning.

According to a report by Deadline, the second season will impact the production of the first season as it will have to take a brief break. After the first two episodes of the first season are shot, the production process would be halted for about five months to allow the creative team of the series to plot out the key elements of the second season. This break would mean that after the details are nailed down by the creatives, the production would restart with a better idea of pacing, where the season is headed, how to go about it and how to fit together the two Lord of the Rings seasons to ensure that the audience gets an overall stronger show.

Deadline has also highlighted that this planning hiatus ordered by Amazon would also be good because it will allow the makers to shoot the two seasons of Lord of the Rings back to back if the creative team is willing to take that route. If it happens, it will help keep the costs down. This TV series of Lord of the Rings will be set in the Middle East and will explore storylines that preceded The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. It means that the areas that were unexplored in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films would be the focus. The TV series will likely star Joseph Mawle, Markella Kavenagh and Will Poulter.

The Lord of the Rings TV series is produced by Amazon Studios, and its showrunners are Patrick McKay and JD Payne. The Executive producers are J.A. Bayona and Belén Atienza, Lindsey Weber, Gene Kelly, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado. The writers are Jason Cahill, Justin Doble and Gennifer Hutchison. The consulting producers for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings are Bryan Cogman and Stephany Folsom. Ron Ames is also a producer while Helen Shang is also a co-producer. Glenise Mullins is working as a writing consultant.
