Apple hosted the third event in the last few months in which it unveiled MacBook Air, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro. All of these would run on chips that are designed and built by Apple itself. The chips would help in boosting the performance and power efficiency of the devices.

Though the addition of the new chips in Macs like MacBook Pro, Air and Mac Mini is a new thing, you should know that Apple is not a newbie in building chips for its devices. The company has been building its own chips for iPhones, Apple Watch, and iPads for many years.

Apple has named its first Mac chip as M1. Some of the specs the devices share are up to 8-core GPU, 8-core CPU, 16 billion transistors, Thunderbolt/USB 4 Support and Apple’s Secure Enclave System built-in.

The talk of the new chip that is present on Macs like MacBook Pro, Air and Mac Mini first initiated in June during WWDC. This chip will allow iOS apps to run seamlessly on Macs like MacBook Pro, Air and Mac Mini. To demonstrate this, the company showed HBO Max and Among Us iOS apps by running them in MacOS.
