Moncler Drops an Eco-Conscious Collection and Plans to Go Fur-Free

In a bid to lower its environmental impact

Moncler Born to Protect Fur-Free

One of the most famous Italian fashion houses, Moncler, has made some new announcements. First, it launched a new range of sustainable garments, and secondly, it has decided to go fur-free. The brand released the most sustainably crafted puffer jackets in January 2021 as a part of the Born to Protect Collection. It was the label’s first step to becoming carbon neutral.

Now, after a year, the newest collection is launched, and the second drop also shows more commitment to minimizing the toxic output. All the products included in The Born to Protect collection are made using low-impact materials like recycled nylon, polyester, organic cotton, down, and wool. The latest drop doesn’t just focus on outerwear as the first one did. It goes beyond and includes ready-to-wear clothing and accessories for entire families. The key pieces for men in the Moncler collection include a classic black puffer with the label’s name visible across the hood, a fresh pair of low-top sneakers with a crepe-effect sole, and a jersey tee. The prices of the new Moncler collection begin from US$355 to US$1,925.

In addition to the launch, Moncler also stated that it will go fur-free post the fall 2023 collection as it plans to stop sourcing fur this year as a part of its Sustainability Plan for 2020-2025, which was introduced two years ago. It is built around five pillars: circular economy, climate action, fair sourcing, giving back to local communities, and enhancing diversity.

The decision to go fur-free also supports Moncler’s long-term engagement with the Italian animal rights organization LAV (Lega Anti Vivisezione) as a representative of the Fur Free Alliance.

By next year, Moncler also aims to incorporate as high as 80 per cent of raw materials that are ethically traced into its collections. It aims to utilize 100 per cent of renewable energy at its global factories. According to WWD, the company will also intend to ensure that 80 per cent of its suppliers achieve the highest grades of the social compliance standards set by the company by 2025.
