Seat Reclining Debate Gets Reignited – What Delta’s CEO Think

Seat reclining during air travel, what do you think?

The seat reclining debate is getting a lot of attention these days. It happened when a US woman shared footage of a male airline passenger who was nudging the back of her reclined seat on a domestic flight. She alleged that his actions led to severe headaches and she had to visit a doctor.

The viral video that sparked the seat reclining debate was shared via Twitter to alert the American airlines about that incident which took place on a flight from New Orleans to Charlotte on January 31. After the video was shared, Twitter was divided about whom to support.

Some people blamed the woman for reclining her seat for a short journey, and some supported her side of the story. They schooled the man on how to become an alpha male and told him how to apologise.

American Airlines is investigating the case. In a statement, a representative of the airline said “We are aware of a customer dispute that transpired on American Eagle flight 4392, operated by Republic Airways on January 31. The safety and comfort of our customers and team members is our top priority.”

The seat reclining debate was reignited when the Delta CEO, Ed Bastian, shared an opinion regarding this matter. He used the opportunity to share how Delta is Your Best Friendly Airline. He said “We haven’t reduced our pitch on our aircraft in years. We’re going the other way.”

He also shared that he never reclines. He said, “I never recline because I don’t think it’s something as CEO I should be doing, and I never say anything if someone reclines into me.”

Though some people think that Bastian used the entire seat reclining debate to get some media attention, he has indeed stated in many interviews that he flies coach regularly but not during the really long flights where some people feel like dying.

What’s your take on the seat reclining debate? Do you recline or hate people who do that during short flights? Let’s keep the interesting debate going!
