Sony Picture's Venom 2 Gets a Goofy Title and Release Date
Venom – Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures Entertainment is trying hard to keep in the sights and minds of the viewers and hence is dropping surprises. The latest effort in this regard is to release not one but two bits of information regarding the upcoming flick Venom 2. First is the release date of the film, which has been postponed for obvious reasons and the second is a goofy yet somewhat intriguing name.

The official sequel of Venom isn’t just Venom 2 anymore. It has been titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film was expected to be released on October 2, 2020, but is now scheduled for June 25, 2021, in the US (the Aussie release dates would be around that timeframe but aren’t confirmed yet.)

Venom occupied the spot which was previously occupied by The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. Warner Bros. has decided to shift the date to October 1, 2021.

Sony Pictures hasn’t just shifted the release of Venom 2 only. It has reshuffled the release of almost every film that was scheduled for 2020. It has shifted the release date of another non-Spider-man but kind of Spiderman movie, Morbius from July 31, 2020, to March 19, 2021. Even the release dates of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Uncharted have been changed. The former will release on March 5, 2021, instead of July 10, 2020, while the latter will release on October 8, 2021, instead of March 5, 2021.

Venom 2 is directed by Andy Serkis, and the role of alien symbiote Venom will once again be played by Tom Hardy. The last film earned USD 855 (about AUD 1.350) million. Some other stars that will make a comeback in Venom 2 are Reid Scott, Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris and Michelle Williams.

Most fans of the film think that the name for Venom 2 is goofy and yet apt. Many fans don’t even care what it’s called because they have been waiting for the film for years. They can’t get enough of the slimy and monstrous anti-hero who always manages to make people laugh. He even did so in the trailer of the film that released in 2018.
