One of the most anticipated sequels of recent times, Space Jam 2, is releasing soon, and the director of the film cannot stop boasting about it. Also, the slight change in Lola bunny’s appearance has got social media talking. Read about both the developments below.

Malcolm D. Lee, the director of Space Jam 2, said that the film would be better than the 1996 film. He stated, “Who is going to be the first to get an Oscar? Let’s have that debate.” He declared, “Space Jam: A New Legacy is a better movie than Space Jam. If you say theatrical movie, Space Jam is it. LeBron’s got that going for him.”

Highlighting Jordan’s talent, he said, “Michael Jordan transcended sports. LeBron is arguably in that category. Now, there’s probably no LeBron without Jordan, and I’m sure he would admit that. But he’s a once-in-a-generation player. I love who LeBron is as a man, as an athlete, as an activist.”

LeBron James said that though he has not spoken to Jordan about Space Jam 2, he hoped that Jordan would approve not just the sequel but also his role. He said, “It’s something Mike created and is his. I held that with a lot of responsibility. In my younger days, part of my thinking was Space Jam was so good, how can I top this?”

Sharing that he expected comparisons between Jordan and him, he said, “There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything Michael [did]. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you stand for.”

Talking about joining forces with the Looney Tunes team, he said, “It’s one of the biggest games, if not the biggest game, I’ve ever played in. The Goon Squad is probably the best team ever assembled in basketball history.”

Space Jam 2 has also been discussed on social media platforms like Twitter after people noted that Lola Bunny’s appearance has changed. Her breasts have been reduced, and she is given a more boyish look. Some people supported the move on social media by saying that an animated character does not need to have standout physical features, while others questioned why the change was initiated.

Malcolm D. Lee also spoke about why Lola bunny was edited in Space Jam 2. He said that he was shocked to see how sexualized Lola was on screen when he watched the original film. He said, “This is 2021. It’s important to reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters.”

Space Jam 2 will release this July and probably be among the top most-talked-about flicks like Godzilla vs Kong, for which the bets are already on.
