THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE NABS A DEAL TO BECOME A SPOTIFY EXCLUSIVE
The Joe Rogan Experience – YouTube

Ypur mate, Joe Rogan, the host of a massively popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience has shared on Tuesday that his podcast will become a Spotify exclusive soon. It means that the audio and videos of the episodes will be available through Spotify only.

It is the first time Joe Rogan has partnered with Spotify. Before this, the podcasts weren’t even available on Spotify. Listeners won’t need to pay extra to enjoy The Joe Rogan Experience, but they will have to become subscribers. Rogan Joe has retained the creative control over his show. The details of the deal, i.e., the money spent was not revealed.

Though Joe Rogan’s YouTube channel will still be live, it won’t have full episodes anymore. It might only have clips or supplementary content that might benefit from YouTube’s search algorithm and might redirect people to Spotify where all the episodes are available.

In 2019, Joe Rogan said that his podcast had more than 190 million monthly downloads. Now the top episodes get millions of additional views on YouTube. So, he is likely getting more than 200 million listens and views monthly.

Spotify has shared that The Joe Rogan Experience will debut on September 1 and would become an exclusive sometime later. Writing about the move on Instagram, Joe Rogan conveyed “It will remain FREE, and it will be the exact same show. It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show. They want me to just continue doing it the way I’m doing it right now.”

Spotify has been expanding its podcast offerings in the last two years, and the addition of Joe Rogan’s show is a big deal. This move is also targeting Apple directly as the company has been the biggest name among podcast players.

The move to acquire Joe Rogan’s show is also targeting YouTube, which isn’t for the first time. Spotify started testing the video podcasting feature earlier this month with the help of two popular YouTubers.

Joe Rogan is also among the most popular YouTube podcasters as millions of people often watch his episodes. So, the deal is a big blow for the video-sharing platform.
