The New Trailer of Top Gun 2 has Nostalgic Thrill and Action

Maverick is training the next generation of fighter pilots

Top Gun was one of the most iconic films of its time that’s still remembered fondly by the fans across the globe. It helped add shine to Tom Cruise’ career as well. Now, the sequel to the film is about to be released (34 years later) and its second trailer will surely make you think of the original. Here’s a breakdown of the Top Gun 2 trailer.

The first Top Gun 2 trailer was released by Cruise during the San Diego Comic-Con had already made fans thrilled. Now, the second Top Gun: Maverick trailer will build more anticipation. The only thing wrong (or should we say right) with the trailer is that it reveals minimum details about the plot of the film. Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Oblivion’s Joseph Kosinski.

The trailer of Top Gun: Maverick opens on a group of young pilots as they are introduced to their new instructor whose skill in the cockpit are listed. The young pilots are then told that his expertise could help save their lives one day. As expected, the skilled pilot is none other than Maverick Mitchell.

 

After that, you see footage of Maverick as a pilot who, again, as expected, makes some thrilling moves. It shows how much risk the young pilots would take on as being in the cockpit is quite scary. The young pilots include Miles Teller, with a bold moustache and Glen Powell.

The second Top Gun: Maverick trailer pays homage to Tony Scott’s original Top Gun in small but significant ways. For instance, you can see a scene where Miles Teller is shirtless on the beach that will make you think of the iconic volleyball scene. You can also see some epic shots of Maverick in his iconic jacket, riding his beloved motorcycle, and guess what, you can see Jennifer Connelly riding on the back.

 

Towards the end of the Top Gun: Maverick trailer, you can see Maverick getting an exciting upgrade to his gear. You can also see Mitchell in what we assume is a black ops plane. He is wearing a helmet that resembles his iconic skydive from Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

In essence, the second Top Gun 2 trailer is full of déjà vu moments!
