Top Gun 2 Trailer is Here to Take Your Breath Away

Damn, the adrenaline and the nostalgic feels

If you have heard enough of Area 51 jokes and want something more substantial, then the Top Gun 2 trailer is here to keep you entertained. Tom Cruise would be reprising his role of Maverick Mitchell, and it was he who revealed the trailer by making a surprise appearance at the Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Thursday.

 

Though Cruise’s appearance was not as unreal as the UFO sightings reported by US Navy fighter pilots (just kidding), it was a pleasant surprise for all the fans of the Hollywood heartthrob. Coming back to the trailer of Top Gun 2, it starts with Maverick getting scolded by his commander (Ed Harris) who sounds as if the Ray-Ban wearing hero hasn’t been working on enhancing his military career but has been too focused on being the cool one who doesn’t stick to Air Force’s rules.

Maverick will be working as a flight instructor in Top Gun 2, and the film is set more than three decades later after the original film. He is now responsible for teaching his late partner’s son who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (Miles Teller) looks quite determined to achieve that goal. The film will also include Val Kilmer, who played the role of Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky and Goose’s father but he hasn’t made an appearance in this trailer.

 

Fans can re-learn how to become an alpha male from Tom Cruise as he can be seen pulling some jaw-dropping Gs. He performs some unbelievable barrel rolls and flies through a snowy mountain range. Most of the stunts shown in the Top Gun 2 trailer were performed by Cruise, except a few plane scenes due to the restrictions on civilians (even actors).

Harris’ character tells Cruise’s character that your end is inevitable, and your kind is headed for extinction. Maverick, in his unique style, responds, maybe so, but not today (It made us remember Arya Stark for some reason).

 

Jennifer Connelly is the female lead, a single mother who runs a bar near the Navy Base. Top Gun 2 also stars actors like Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, and Monica Barbaro. It is directed by Joe Kosinski and written by Justin Marks, Peter Craig, and Eric Warren Singer.

Top Gun 2 was to be released this year, but it will hit the theatres in 2020 now. We’ll let you know the date as soon as we know!
