Some partnerships last long and flourish with time. One such partnership is between Omega and the James Bond films that had its 25th anniversary on Wednesday. The special occasion was made more distinct with the launch of Omega Seamaster, the newest Bond watch in an event in New York. The event was graced with the presence of the actor playing James Bond’s character, Daniel Craig and the producers of the film Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The timing of the unveiling of Omega Seamaster was precisely calculated as it was released in conjunction with the release of No Time to Die trailer. This unique watch will be available from February 2020 onwards.

Raynald Aeschlimann, the CEO and President of Omega said that the Omega Seamaster was created with the inputs of Daniel Craig. It is the first time an actor playing James Bond has shared such an input. The watch has a titanium mesh bracelet, or buyers can choose a NATO Strap in dark brown, beige or grey. 007 is engraved on the loop. It has been built by keeping military needs in mind.

One unique feature of Omega Seamaster is that a series of numbers are inscribed on the back that follows the format on genuine military issue watches. The most appealing set of numbers are 007, James Bond’s code and the number 62 as it refers to Dr No, the year of  the first-ever James Bond film. It was a time when Bond didn’t own an Aston Martin but had a humble Sunbeam Alpine.

The fans of Bond films who want to get their hands on an Omega Seamaster have a higher probability of doing so as the watch won’t be restricted to a limited run of examples but will be available easily.

As No Time to Die is Craig’s last film as Bond, and there is a possibility of a female as 007 in the future, there are many changes expected. When inquired about it Aeschlimann said that the watch is issued to the agents by the British Secret Service, be it a man or a woman. So, it’s likely Omega’s partnership with Bond movies will evolve in the future as well.

Omega Seamaster comes in an exclusive brown fabric pouch and is water-resistant up to 1000 feet or 300 meters. It also has a 5-year warranty. The watch costs A$11,550 on a NATO strap—or A$13,075 for one with a mesh bracelet, which is the one that Daniel Craig wears in the movie trailer.
