Top Takeaways from Joe Biden v Donald Trump 2020 Presidential Debate

The presidential candidates for the upcoming elections in the US, Joe Biden and Donald Trump recently had their first presidential debate. None of them came better or worse as they were both quite rude and out of line. However, Joe Biden seems to have benefitted more post the debate than Trump. Read on to know the key takeaways from the first presidential debate between these two.

The Key Failure

One of the key failures was of Moderator Chris Wallace who failed to rein in Donald Trump and Joe Biden during the presidential debate. People expressed their opinion on it freely. He even failed to keep up with Donald Trump. During the debate when Joe Biden said, “I can’t remember everything he was ranting about.”, Wallace responded by saying “I’m having trouble myself.”

Donald Trump Didn’t Condemn White Supremacists

Donald Trump refrained from denouncing white supremacists’ groups like the Proud Boys. He said, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” He added “But I’ll tell you what and I’ll tell you why somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is a left-wing” problem.

Personal Insults

Joe Biden was quite exasperated during the presidential debate and struggled to keep his cool. He got personal by saying “Will you shut up man?”

Attack on the Family

Donald Trump decided to target Joe Biden’s family by pointing at his son- Hunter’s problems like cocaine addition, discharge from the navy and the allegations of taking millions of dollars from a Russian oligarch.

To this, Joe Biden responded. “My son, like a lot of people … had a drug problem. He’s overtaken it. He’s fixed it. He’s worked on it. And I’m proud of him.”

Losing the Cool

Donald Trump lost his cool during the presidential debate when he thought that Joe Biden was challenging his intelligence. He said, “There’s nothing smart about you.”

Who Won the Presidential Debate?

Neither Donald Trump nor Joe Biden won this presidential debate. However, the latter did see an increase in his campaign money. He received about USD 3.8 million (about AUD 5.35) in an hour that night. He is also ahead in the polls, so a stalemate is good for him. The next two presidential debates are on 3 November. We hope they will be more fruitful than this one.
