If there is one thing that is synonymous with Victoria’s Secret, it is glamorous models walking down a runway. However, recent times have been quite challenging for the lingerie company. In consequence of this, lingerie company has decided to let the Angels go.

The end of the Victoria’s Secret Angels

According to Martin Waters, the CEO of the brand, the Victoria’s Secret Angels would not be a part of the brand anymore.

In this regard, he stated, “I have known that we needed to change this brand for a long time, we just haven’t had the control of the company to be able to do it. Right now, I don’t see it (the Angels) as being culturally relevant.”

In 2017, former employees of the brand expressed their concerns about gender profiling, racism, and discrimination in the company after the #MeToo movement got attention. That resulted in many influencers questioning the company’s policies.

Later in 2019, Victoria’s Secret also had to cancel its iconic runway event. That was followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which did not let the brand make many profits. Now that times have changed, it looks like the brand is undergoing a rebranding.

After dumping the Angels, Victoria’s Secret is taking in women that are champions of inclusion, diversity, and individuality. Pro Soccer player and LGBTQ activist Megan Rapinoe and Priyanka Chopra are among the women who will advise and promote the brand in advertisements.

Furthermore, a Victoria’s Secret will also form a new team of executives comprised of women except for a single seat.

At the same time, the brand has also partnered with Pelotonia, an organization that devotes itself to research on cancer. As a debut, Victoria’s Secret will team up with Stella McCartney, a renowned fashion designer and a champion of Breast Cancer Awareness, in October.

Regarding this, McCartney stated, “Breast cancer awareness has always been a cause very personal to me. It is a global issue impacting the lives of millions of women and their families every year.”
