The Porsche Cayenne has held the title of the fastest SUV for a while. Though, now it is ready to break another record. The German vehicle manufacturer just announced a new variant of the 20-year-old vehicle nameplate.

Currently, we do not know much about the technical specifications of the new variant. Even the name is undisclosed. However, according to what Porsche has promised, details will be coming out soon.

Furthermore, it will also become the fastest SUV to date, beating the Porsche Cayenne. According to the automaker, the vehicle has already set the record on 14th June. The new Porsche Cayenne variant was tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track by Driver, Lars Kern.

This Porsche Cayenne completed the track in 7:38:925 minutes, which is a new record for an SUV. Driver Kern pushed the new SUV to its limits on the 20.82 Km track which is also referred to as the Green Hell among racing enthusiasts.

After the test, a notary then certified the new record. As of now, it looks like Porsche is not ready to release detailed specifications of the new variant. However, we do know that the new Porsche Cayenne SUV variant might deliver 600+ horsepower. Furthermore, its 0 to 60 acceleration time might be similar to that of the 992-gen 911 GTS, which is 3.2 seconds.

Regarding the new variant, Stefan Weckbach, the Vice President at Porsche Cayenne line stated, “this Cayenne model is a top performer.”

He further added that this new variant offers an all-around better driving experience and comfort. Furthermore, he also mentioned that this vehicle is based on the Cayenne Turbo Coupé. Overall, the focus of the team has been on delivering the best performance on the road. And that is exactly what makes this new SUV variant so special.
