The first look of Dune has been released recently, and everyone’s eyes are on Timothée Chalamet. It’s a sci-fi tentpole that entertainment buffs have been waiting for a couple of months now. The image is also praised on Twitter by none other than the son of Frank Herbert, Brian. Herbert was the author of the sci-fi book that first released in 1965.

Fans have been awaiting updates on the project since the Dune news last year. In the image depicting the official look, Timothée Chalamet is depicted as the protagonist Paul Atreides. He can be seen walking Caladan, his native planet while spaceships start the task of transporting his family to a new home, Arrakis.

Paul’s family has inherited the ownership of this desert planet in Dune. It is a key source of a superhuman drug “Spice.” The new owners have to deal with the displeasure and enmity of not only the rival royal families but also the indigenous population of natives, Fremen.

Talking about taking up the role in Dune, Timothée Chalamet said “The immediately appealing thing about Paul was the fact that in a story of such detail and scale and world-building, the protagonist is on an anti-hero’s-journey of sorts. He thinks he’s going to be sort of a young general studying his father and his leadership of a fighting force before he comes of age, hopefully a decade later, or something like that.”

It is the first time Timothée Chalamet is leading a giant studio tentpole. So, the expectations are super high. From the reactions on the image, it seems that Timothée Chalamet has passed the initial test.

The first image of Dune created a buzz on Twitter. Even Brian, the son of the original author of the book Frank Herbert expressed his opinion via a Tweet. He wrote, “My father would be incredibly proud!”

In addition to Timothée Chalamet, Dune also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Oscar Isaac, among others. The film will be released in December this year. It is expected to be the first in a series of films if everything goes as per the plan of the makers.
