Fast and Furious 9 Teaser Takes Family to a Whole New Level
“I can’t live my life a quarter mile at a time anymore”
Universal Pictures has released the teaser for Fast and Furious 9 ahead of its official trailer release on the 31st of January. Although the film’s story line has been kept tightly under wraps, the teaser above sheds a bit of light on the film and it seems that its more moving towards a dramatic direction.
Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, could be seen as more of a family man than the usual hot rod-driving hero, taking care of his son Brian with Elena (Elsa Pataky) from the previous Fate of the Furious film with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The movie will see the return of Justin Lin , who previously directed most of the earlier Fast and Furious films, Tokyo Drift, The Fast & the Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6. However, screenwriter Chris Morgan, who’s written every Fast and Furious movie since Tokyo Drift, did not write this film (he co-wrote Hobbs & Shaw), further alluding to the changes potentially coming to the franchise.
The Fast and Furious 9 teaser has an undertone of tension and drama that sets it apart from previous Fast entries, which usually shows superhero action and humor. Perhaps we’ll get more doses of that in the official trailer that drops this weekend, but this teaser has a Tony Stark family time vibe in Avengers: Endgame.
