Get Ready! Sony will Stream the PlayStation 5 Game Showcase This Week!
The price and release date of the next-gen console is still unknown.
Sony is streaming a PlayStation 5 game showcase event this week. During the event, the company plans to broadcast a 40-minute digital showcase which will include updates regarding first-party Sony game studios as well as updates from the third-party partners. The company is pitching the event as “one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!)” before the launch of the console.
The company will probably share the release date and pricing for PlayStation 5. The preregistration for pre-orders of the console began last week, but there is still no word on the official pre-orders, the pricing and release date. It is expected that the PlayStation 5 might have competitive and next-gen pricing for both, regular PlayStation 5, and the disc-less PlayStation 5.
The company shared about the PlayStation 5 event via a short blog post in which it highlighted that the event would include “updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios” and more information on third-party games.

The pricing of PlayStation 5 would be on the higher side given the fact that Microsoft’s Xbox Series is priced similarly as well. The X console of the Xbox Series would cost USD 499 (about UAD 685) while the Xbox Series S will cost about USD 299 (about AUD 411). No one will be surprised if Sony’s console is priced higher than USD 499 (about AUD 686) too.
Despite the high pricing, it is being predicted that Sony will be able to sell 66 million PS5 by the end of 2024. This number is far higher than the 37 million Xbox Series X units. The prediction, if it comes true, would be a huge blow for Microsoft as the company wants to eat into the sizeable market share of Sony.
