Based on reports, Kanye West will be taking the role of the new Men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton. Both West and Abloh have collaborated on various projects for a long time. In 2009, both served as interns at Fendi, which started their long friendship.

According to The Sun, both masterminded success in the industry together. Eventually, Abloh became one of the most notable designers of the new generation. In 2010, Virgil Abloh also took the role of an artistic director at West’s company.

Furthermore, Virgil Abloh also worked with JAY-Z and Kanye West on the Watch the Throne album. According to a source at The Sun, “Kanye is devastated about Virgil’s death because they had been friends for years and worked together a lot. They shared a similar vision, and now Kanye feels he owes it to Virgil to continue his work at Louis Vuitton.”

If we look at the history of both Abloh and Ye, it makes sense that Kanye would now want to lead the path at Louis Vuitton in the footsteps of his late friend. Besides being a collaborator with Kanye West, Virgil Abloh also started his brand, Off-White, featuring unique designs.

Eventually, in 2019, Virgil Abloh took the role of the creative director at Louis Vuitton, becoming the first black American man in that position. Currently, the French brand values over $50 billion USD. Its global sales surpass $15 billion USD.

With that, Kanye West also has some history with Louis Vuitton when he first collaborated with the fashion house for his popular sneakers. Originally, the sneakers were priced at $1100 in 2009. But today, the price of these sneakers is more than $30,000 USD.

But that is not all. Kanye West has also been making waves in the world of fashion. His Yeezy label, which he launched in 2015, has also been a great success. Though, currently, neither West nor Louis Vuitton has said anything about the rumor. It could very well be true. Or perhaps, it might only be a rumour after all. We shall find out more about that in the coming weeks.
