Motorola Razr: Impressive Cutting-Edge Technology and Design
Motorola’s sleek phone makes a comeback
More than a decade back, the Motorola Razr ruled the phone market and the hearts of millions. The flip phone was a wonder at that time and on the wish list of many people. Sadly, the phone became obscure and was replaced by other smartphones. But now, history is to repeat itself as Motorola has re-launched the Razr and loaded it with amazing specs.
Though foldable phones are a trend these days and products like Samsung Galaxy Fold are anticipated, the return of Motorola Razr flip phone has been making people excited since earlier this year. The phone is very different from revamped Nokia 3310. It is foldable!
It means that the screen of Motorola Razr will not have a hinge but will be foldable. The folding mechanism is different than Huawei’s Mate X, which folds like a book. Motorola Razr will fold downwards thanks to a new mechanism that combines sliding plates and hinges so the device can be folded and unfolded easily and quickly. With this launch, Motorola has paved the way for foldable flip phones. So, fans can expect more phones like this shortly.
Initial reports regarding Motorola Razr confirm that a user can’t see or feel the crease which is a relief. Also, the device is expected to be scuff resistant thanks to an internal coating and a special panel coating. The internal coating makes it splash resistant as well. Motorola has full faith in the durability of the gadget too. But the company didn’t specify how many times the device can be folded and unfolded before it breaks, which isn’t great news.
Talking about the durability, it was stated that Motorola has “full confidence in the durability of the Flex View display”. Highlighting the lifespan, Motorola said, “it will last for the average lifespan of a smartphone.”
Motorola Razr will be launched in the US on December 26 (just in time for Holiday Season gifting) and will cost USD 1,499. It is expected to arrive in Australia in early 2020 and might be the cheapest foldable phone available in the country.
The GM Sales APAC for Mature Markets, Danny Adamopoulos, confirmed Motorola Razr’s launch in Australia when he said “I am delighted to confirm that the device you’ve all been waiting for will be coming to Australia. This is a transformative time for both Motorola as a company, but also the broader telecommunications industry here in Australia. And much like the Razr flip-phone redefined what a smartphone could be in the noughties, we’re now ready to flip your world all over again with the world’s first vertical folding display in a mobile device. The Razr is coming. Stay tuned.”
