The debut issue of Spider-Man

The Spider-Man comic book got sold at the Signature Comics & Comic Art sale by Heritage Auctions. Previously, the record was set by the debut issue of Superman ,the Action Comics no. 1 issue.

Amazing Fantasy, which features the Spider-Man debut, originally released in 1961. At that time, it was available under the title ‘Amazing Adventure.’ What started as a science-fiction anthology later turned into a collection of comics for kids, teens, and adults.

Later, artist Steve Ditko and writer Stan Lee had full creative freedom of the final issue of the book. This resulted in the birth of the Spider-Man comics featuring Peter Parker, a teenager who achieves super-human abilities after getting bit by a radioactive spider at OSCORP.

Eventually, after the death of his uncle Ben, Peter Parker decides to make use of his abilities to fight crime and evil. That is when Spider-Man is born. The story turned out to be a big hit among the readers. And despite the books being cancelled, Spider-Man got its own comic book series under the title “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 1963.

Since then, several issues of Spider-Man comics have come out, with many villains being introduced in the universe.

This copy of the Amazing Fantasy no.15 issue has received a 9.6 grading. And according to sources, it is just one of the very few copies that still exist in mint condition. Currently, no other copy of the debut issue of Spider-Man is known to be in a condition better than this one.

Back in 2011, a similar copy was sold for $1.1 million. And within a decade, the price of the issue has gone up by $2.5 million, which is a considerable amount.

In other news, the trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home is also finally out, featuring a multiverse with many villains from the past, including Dr. Octopus.
