In a Blue Origin auction, a person ended up winning a USD 28 million (roughly equivalent to AUD 36.34 Million) bid to travel with Jeff Bezos along with his brother to space next month. For now, the space company owned by Jeff Bezos kept the name of the winner confidential.

The identity of the auction winner will be revealed as the date to travel into space comes closer. The space flight would be taken on 20th July from West Texas, on the 52nd anniversary of Aldrin and Armstrong’s landing on the moon.

Furthermore, this would mark the launch of the Shepard rocket by Blue Origin with actual people on the flight. Test flights of this reusable rocket have been carried out since 2015. Albeit lasting only 10 minutes, these flight tests by Blue Origin have all been a success.

By Friday, the auction arranged by Blue Origin reached $6.23 million. To travel with Jeff Bezos, around 7500 people from all over the world participated in the auction. With that, on Saturday, there were more than 20 bidders competing.

As soon as Jeff Bezos announced that he and Mark will be on the flight too, the bidding took a big boost with many high rollers calling out their bids. According to Jeff Bezos, the winning amount would go to the Club for the Future, an educational effort of Blue Origin.

The aim of the Club for the Future is to promote the knowledge of technology and science among the young people.

Based on the current reports, the automated Blue Origin capsule has the capacity to take 6 passengers. Each passenger would also have a big window next to their seat.

According to Ariana Cornell, the sales director at Blue Origin, the final seat of the auction will also be announced very soon. Currently, Blue Origin by Jeff Bezos has not opened up ticketing for the general public, though.
