On Saturday, Virgin Galactic successfully launched its third manned space flight. The flight featured a rocket-powered plane with two pilots. This initial success means that the company might be ready to open spots for customers who are willing to pay.

However, that would not happen until the current testing campaign ends at the Virgin Galactic headquarters. According to the Virgin Galactic representatives, the Spaceplane VSS Unity soared to an latitude of 89 kilometres.

According to the US Government, the 80-kilometer mark is the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere. So, technically speaking, this is the point beyond which space begins. After news of the successful test came out, the shares of the company increased by more than 14%, thanks to the proactive investors.

Regarding the successful flight, the CEO of Virgin Galactic, Michael Colglazier stated, “Today’s flight showcased the inherent elegance and safety of our spaceflight system while marking a major step forward for both Virgin Galactic and human spaceflight in New Mexico.”

The next step for the company would be to review the test data that they gathered during the flight. After confirming the results, the aerospace company will move on to the next milestone in their flight development.

In celebration of human spaceflight, the company placed the New Mexico flag’s Zia Sun Symbol on the Spaceship’s exterior.

Regarding the milestone, Governor Frederick stated, “The Zia Sun Symbol is one of our most sacred symbols, central to the Pueblo of Zia. We are pleased that Virgin Galactic reached out to our Pueblo for permission to utilize this iconic symbol of the state of New Mexico.”

According to Virgin Galactic, all COVID-19 protocols were strictly followed during the space flight. Speculators are wondering what this means for the future, though. According to some people, this test-flight is no less than a revolution in the world of space flights and it is just the beginning.
