The demand for video games is rising day by day. To meet this demand, companies are coming up with new methods, gaming services, gaming devices and accessories. The latest addition to this list is of Xbox Series X by Microsoft that looks simple but offers a lot more than anyone would think. So, will this new innovation intensify the gaming competition? Certainly!

One proof of the rising competition in the gaming arena was visible before the launch of Xbox Series X. It was in September when Apple launched Apple Arcade, a game subscription service that allowed people access to over 100 curated puzzles, family-friendly and action games at just USD 4.99 (AUD 7.21) a month.

Another proof is the rising competition in the cloud gaming services arena where Microsoft and Sony face competition from newcomers like Google and Amazon, both of which have ample cloud expertise that is extended to video games.

Despite the intense competition, Xbox Series X by Microsoft has a simple design. You can mistake it for a smart speaker or even a vase. It has an Xbox logo and a slot for discs. The design is deliberately kept simple to ensure that the console disappears in the entertainment centre. Some details of the Xbox Series X were revealed at the Game Awards recently, and more specs will be shared during the E3 2020 video game conference that is scheduled for next June.

The Xbox Series X that might be a key competitor for Sony’s PlayStation 5 is designed in such a manner that it can work smoothly in horizontal and vertical orientations. According to Phil Spencer, The Chief of Microsoft’s Xbox, the new device will “deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way.”

During the revelation of Xbox Series X, Microsoft showcased Hellblade 2. It is a new game from Ninja Theory that’s under development for the next Xbox console. The Xbox Series X will have NVMe SD that will boost load times. It will also have a CPU that will be custom designed and based on AMD’s Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture. It will support frame rates of up to 120 fps in games, variable refresh rate support, 8k gaming and ray tracing. The GPI performance specifics are yet to be unveiled.
