The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series was formally unveiled by the brand early this morning during a live event in the Middle East. One of the key highlights of the new car is the twin-turbo diesel V6 that is replacing the twin-turbo diesel V8. The latter has powered the LandCruiser 200 Series since 2007.

Tech heads all over the world are welcoming the new twin-turbo diesel V6 in the Toyota LandCruiser. It has a capacity of 3.3 litres and an output of 227kW and 700Nm. It is far better than the output of 200kW and 650Nm offered by the V8.

The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series will also be backed by a 10-speed automatic that will probably be better than the six speeds that were available in the 200 series. The 10-speed automatic will help improve acceleration and give a boost to open-road fuel economy.

Toyota has downsized to V6 from V8 in 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series as the brand wants to follow the global trend of using smaller capacity engines that pass the latest and sterner emissions targets.

Though Australia has less stringent emissions targets, Toyota has decided to stick to V6 and let go of V8 in our country as well. This is because it is impossible to develop cars based on individual country’s regulations as it will shoot up the costs. So, the vehicles are made uniformly for global use.

No plans to make the new LandCruiser by using hybrid power were shared, but that option is also a possibility in the future.

Talking about the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, the CEO and President of Toyota, Matthew Callachor, said, “The Toyota Land Cruiser truly has legendary status as Toyota’s longest-selling nameplate, as the king off the road. It’s king off the road status will be taken to another level, as this vehicle drives sensationally off-road, and even better on-road. Knowing what I know about this vehicle, Australians will embrace this new Land Cruiser with the same passion we have for every one of the previous models.”
