A New Marvel Movie will be Shot Here in Australia

While MCU fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Avengers: Endgame, there are already new MCU rumours going around. For instance, the news report that surfaced online claiming that Angelina Jolie is in negotiation with Marvel Studios for a future Marvel film. These reports and rumours are good in helping maintain the attention of the audience and build excitement for future MCU movie franchises.

That said, there is another buzz is going around that our federal government is going to offer a A$24 million subsidy to Disney in order to shoot a new Marvel movie here at Fox Studios at Moore Park, NSW.

Although the name of the movie is still under the veil and hasn’t been out, yet it seems to be a good move. As per a recent release by Australian Minister for Communications and the Arts, Mitch Fifield and Minister for the Arts of New South Wales Don Harwin, the movie was not referred with a name but as an “Untitled Marvel Studios Feature Film”.

Last year, as part of its acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Disney took the ownership of the Sydney studios. Furthermore, it is speculated that the Marvel movie could claim the 16.5% location offset, which is a location incentive scheme offered by the Australian government for movie production in the country.

Mitch Fifield and Don Harwin release also stress on the fact that “The Australian government’s location incentive increases the existing location offset rate from 16.5% to 30% for eligible large budget international productions that are successful through the application process.” The movie will also be able to get additional support from the NSW government as it will support attraction of other international movie projects.

This is not an unprecedented thing that Marvel has shot a film in Australia but it definitely be another boost for the country’s overall economy. According to Mitch Fifield, this step must be taken quite positively as Marvel returns for another movie production in the country after the success of Thor: Ragnarok and “bring over $150 million of new international investment, create 4,700 new Australian jobs and use the services of around 1,200 local businesses,”

As for other details of the untitled Marvel movie is concerned, sources are saying that it could be Shang-Chi, a movie about an asian Marvel superhero. Last month, Marvel announced that the film’s director would be Destin David Cretton and that Dave Callaham is currently writing the movie script. For now, the MCU fans could only guess what could be the name of this mystery Marvel movie.
