In the last few hours, there’s been a lot of buzz about Tom Hardy’s upcoming flick, Al Capone. In the biopic, he plays the role of a sickly and ageing Al Capone, who of course is the most notorious gangster of America. Here’s everything you need to know about the film that has been in the works for years and is finally inching closer to a release.

The trailer of Tom Hardy’s Al Capone was released by the Director of the film, Josh Trank via his Twitter account on Wednesday. As the theatres are closed, the film is expected to release on VOD this May and will be available for 48-hour rental as well. It will be released via Redbox Entertainment and Vertical Entertainment, both of which specialize in home entertainment and on-demand releases. When we get out of the coronavirus crisis, the film will likely be released in the theatres as well.

The official synopsis of the Tom Hardy film reads- “The 47-year old Al Capone, after 10 years in prison, starts suffering from dementia, and comes to be haunted by his violent past.” For those who are unaware, Capone was the head of Chicago mob in the 1920s and was prosecuted for tax evasion and sent for imprisonment in 1932.

In the trailer, Tom Hardy can be seen as a young person firing a machine gun. The Venom actor also proclaims. “We made a promise that some day we could make it big!”

As Tom Hardy can give people lessons on how to become an alpha male, it’s not a surprise to see him dominating the trailer. He can be seen as a man with unhealthy pallor living at a luxury Florida estate in most of the trailer.

In addition to Tom Hardy, Al Capone also stars Jack Lowden, Neal Brennan, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan and Linda Cardellini. The film was first announced in 2016 and Hardy’s transformation in the film was shared via the internet throughout 2018. The film was earlier known as Fonzo and is now many steps closer to the release. So, the fans who have waited for it have finally got a reason to cheer.
