So, are we going to see Tyler Rake again?

Extraction has turned out to be a money-maker for Netflix as the Chris Hemsworth film is doing good in terms of the number of viewers. Considering its popularity, it was only a matter of time when Netflix would go for a sequel or prequel. It has been confirmed that Extraction 2 is in the works. The writer of the first instalment has been hired to write another.

 

The writer of Extraction, Joe Russo, has closed a deal to write another instalment. Russo, who runs a company AGBO with his brother Anthony will work on the script. They are optimistic that Chris Hemsworth will reprise the role of Tyler Rake and Sam Hargrave would return as the director of Extraction 2. The deals with the actor and director will only be made once the script is ready.

 

As the Extraction ending was so interesting, Russo has the power to decide whether Tyler is alive or not. Talking about Extraction 2 with Deadline, Russo said “The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be. We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.”

 

Appreciating Hargrave, Russo said “There was always a simple drive to the story, a balletic execution of action where you take a damaged character who made an egregious mistake in the past and has a shot at redemption which might be fatal. What was key is that we needed a muscular action director like Sam to be the main creative force in the execution of the action.”

 

Extraction – Netflix

 

Though there is no deal with Hemsworth at this point regarding starring in Extraction 2, the actor would be more than willing to join the film. He recently celebrated the successful opening of the film with his fans via social media. Hemsworth has also worked with Hargrave, Joe and Anthony Russo in films like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He played the role of Thor in both of the super successful films.
