Meet Alfred, Dent and The Penguin for The Batman Movie

It looks like a star-studded cast for the new Batman movie

The Batman is kind of incomplete without Alfred Pennyworth, and the makers of the new Batman film understand this. They are in talks with Andy Serkis to play this vital role. As the character supports Wayne as Batman and guards his estate while the caped crusader cruises the dark alleyways of Gotham City, Alfred is widely loved and admired.

 

Just like Batman is incomplete without Pennyworth, the trio of villains in the new movie is incomplete without the addition of The Penguin. Colin Farrell will reportedly step into that role. Earlier, Jonah Hill was considered for the role, but he has backed out entirely now. Hill’s loss is Farrell’s gain as he will now step up in the spats of Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman won’t be the first big film for Colin Farrell as he has proved his worth in films like Widows, Dumbo, The Lobster, Roman J. Israel and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The Irish-born actor has also played an intense superhero villain role before as he menaced Ben Affleck’s Daredevil character by playing the showy role of Bullseye, years back. Last time we saw The Penguin on the big screen was in 1992 when Tim Burton’s Batman Returns was released, and the actor nailed the role of The Penguin flawless.

 

The Penguin will join Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as The Riddler to make things difficult for The Batman, played by Robert Pattinson.

Another addition to The Batman cast is of Matthew McConaughey as Gotham City District Attorney, Harvey Dent. He will first be an upstanding member of Gotham’s legal system and would likely adopt the path of crime in a sequel. So, you can see him in two films.

No matter whether you like the idea of The Batman, you can’t deny that the casting for the film is a journey on its own as the makers are picking the best ones from the lot and fitting them in perfect roles.
