New Samsung Galaxy Tablets have an Answer to the iPad

Could this Samsung Tablet beat the iPad?

Samsung Galaxy Tablets have always been a quaint lineup of “Phablet” products but until now it was not a match for the iPad in terms of size, utility and hardware power. It was only a matter of time that electronics giant Samsung would catch up to Apple in the Tablet computer scene. Apparently unintentionally spilling the beans the week before their much-anticipated event in New York, they revealed information regarding their new line of tablet computers, a smartwatch, and maybe even a smart speaker. But its the tablet computer we should really be watching out for.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is a premium tablet that aims to beat the iPad at its own game. There is also the more budget friendly Galaxy Tab A 10.5 that has lower specs, a child lock feature, it’s pretty much the same analogy as the iPad Air. Prices have not yet been released and will be announced this August 9 during their event.

In terms of hardware, both will include a Book Cover Keyboard case to turn the tablet into a laptop / notebook device and more so with its wireless mouse compatibility. An S Pen stylus will be included in the package (looking at you iPad, hmph!), And its 256GB of storage is adequate for general work use. For those who want to blast sound it will have four Dolby speakers included. Anything apart from this I don’t know yet as Samsung has been mum on all their specs.

Samsung Galaxy tablets have always been fighting an uphill battle against the iPad but have been slowly gaining ground ever since early this year where they were handily beaten by Apple’s 9.1 million iPad sold, almost twice that of Samsung’s numbers. The reason mainly being that the iOS apps are much more optimized for tablets than Android apps. Samsung promises this release to be the “game changer” by giving “PC Power” at the palm of your hands and promises more productivity, and mobility that the iPad can’t do at the moment.

Are Samsung Galaxy tablets making a comeback? Until the New York event at August 9 we will never know. But it is great to see innovation at work and competition still fresh this day and age. And I honestly hope that this leap forward is just as far as Samsung says it is.
