Qantas has detailed how it is planning to encourage Australian citizens to get COVID-19 vaccine jabs. At some point, Australia was slammed for a limited supply and delays in the vaccinations. Also, many eligible Aussies were reluctant to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

As a result of this, recovery from COVID-19 in Australia has been relatively slower as compared with the other Western countries. However, now Qantas is offering mega-prizes to Aussies who have received their COVID-19 vaccine.

Regarding this, Alan Joyce, the CEO at Qantas stated that they will offer unlimited free travel to many people who have had their jabs.

He stated, “We’re looking at having 10 mega-prizes, at least one for each state or territory, where a family of four can have unlimited free travel for a year on the Qantas and Jetstar networks.”

Alan Joyce further added, “In addition to that, the Accor Group have come on board and they’re offering one million Accor Points, which gives free accommodation at 400 hotels and resorts across the country.”

He also mentioned that Accor Group will offer up to a million Accor Points as part of this scheme. This would give free accommodation to travelers in various resorts and up to 400 hotels throughout the country.

It is expected that the competition will be live from July onwards. Travelers who have received their COVID-19 vaccine will be able to participate through the Qantas app.

Stephanie Tully, the Chief Customer Officer at Qantas also stated, “As a large company that relies on travel to put our people and planes back to work, we’re obviously motivated to help with the national vaccine effort.”

According to her, the mega-prizes could be in the form of Jetstar or Qantas flight vouchers, status credits, or Qantas points. However, these will only be valid for those who can present proof of their COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Government, the Australian borders for international flights might open by mid of 2022. However, this would depend on the number of people who have had their COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
