The Dark Crystal – Netflix

If you ever thought that life would be boring again post the Game of Thrones finale, you were wrong, my friend. It seems that the makers of other films and TV series were waiting eagerly for GoT to end so that they can hook the audience attention completely. Some showrunners are creating new seasons of already popular series (Stranger Things 3), and some are launching new TV shows. One of the newest TV shows worth waiting for is The Dark Crystal series by Netflix, and its trailer reminds us why.

The Dark Crystal revolves around a hero who wants to ensure that the world becomes vibrant again. This film is a prequel to a 1982 Frank Oz and Jim Henson movie, and we think it’s paying tribute to that film and its stars. The trailer of The Dark Crystal is mesmerizing thanks to brightly coloured imaginary spaces and the exceptional characters.

The Netflix series shows the dark days before the dawn, and surviving Mystics and Gelflings need to organize a rebellion against Skesis (who have an evil power) to save the planet of Thra. None of the characters of the series are humans, and the story is purely a writer’s imagination. (It’s nothing like Chernobyl, another mind-gripping TV series that is based on real events).

The voice cast of The Dark Crystal is quite impressive, and one of the reasons why people are awaiting it eagerly. The three Geflings will have the voices of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nathalie Emmanuel. Natalie Dormer, Theo James, and Helena Bonham Carter will also be the voice cast of other Geflings. Some other stars like Mark Hamill, Keegan-Michael Fey, Simon Pegg, Andy Samber, and Jason Isaacs will voice the Skeksis and Mystics.

Cindy Holland, the Netflix VP of Original Series, stated that they needed to cast incredible voice talent that can complement the visual world. She added that she is proud of the entire voice cast, and it makes her more excited for fans to revisit Thra and discover the unique world for the first time.

Dark Crystal will premiere on Netflix on August 30, 2019, and we have already started counting the days. Have you?
