The Super Bowl Halftime Show has been a key attraction for the fans for a long time now. It’s been the most watched event of the year because international stars like Lady Gaga, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, and many others have performed in it and more stars appear every year.

This year, it was Maroon 5’s turn to rock the stadium.  The band was joined on stage by rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi.  They also brought in fire (lots of it!) The show’s key highlight was the moment when Adam Levine took his shirt off. The women finally got the chance to look at his ripped physique.

Here is the full set list of halftime show.

  • “Harder to Breathe”
  • “This Love”
  • “Sicko Mode” (Travis Scott)
  • “Girls Like You”
  • “She Will be Loved”
  • “The Way You Move” (Big Boi)
  • “Sugar”
  • “Moves Like Jagger”

Another highlight of the Super Bowl Halftime Show was the brief but noteworthy appearance of everyone’s favourite, SpongeBob SquarePants. Though the appearance of the SpongeBob SquarePants was a small interlude between the performances of Maroon 5 and Travis Scott, Sponge-Bob SquarePants made its mark and left people craving for more. Most of his fans wanted to see him for a bit longer and can only hope that he will make another appearance on Super Bowl Halftime Show soon.

SpongeBob’s appearance was a surprise for the Millennial kids who grew up with the yellow cartoon sponge and love him like anything. This appearance also seems to be the right send-off for Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob’s creator who passed away suddenly at the end of last year. Hillenburg’s contribution on Nickelodeon is immense, and he helped define a generation.

Commenting on Hillenburg’s death, Nickelodeon had released a statement in which it was stated that Hillenburg was a long-time creative partner and a beloved friend for everyone at Nickelodeon and everyone’s heart goes to him as well as his entire family. Steve had imbued SpongeBob SquarePants with innocence and humour that has helped kids and families across the world to be filled with joy.

SpongeBob SquarePants is so popular across the globe that celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Jon Hamm, and David Bowie have voiced characters on the show. Are you interested in more Super Bowl stuff to talk about? Have a look at this year’s super bowl commercials here.
