Lenovo seems to be giving a tough competition to brands like Apple when it comes to smartphone innovation. It has plans to launch a gaming phone L79031 with a code-name “moba.” The code name probably refers to the multiplayer online battle arena in the video game genre which is currently the hottest gaming trend right now. The unique thing about the Lenovo Legion gaming phone is that instead of having the usual pop-up selfie camera placement or a 360-degree rotating camera, it has a unique side-mounted and motorised selfie camera.

The logic behind adding a side-mounted camera to the gaming phone is that most gamers like to hold phones in the landscape when playing games so the side-mounted camera will allow them to take pictures or live stream from their phones. They will not have to deal with the annoyance of their hand blocking the camera lens of the gaming phone while shooting or relying on a secondary video capture device that is usually inconvenient to use, time-consuming and costly.

In addition to offering a side-mounted camera, the Lenovo Legion gaming phone has many other cool features like it might run on Android 10 and will have Lenovo’s ZUI 12 customisations. It might also have dual rear cameras (64MP + 16MP wide-angle) as well as a single front-facing camera (20MP). The device will likely have a screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, an impressive 5,000 mAh battery and a super-fast 90-watt wired charging.

The Lenovo Legion gaming phone will also have a sports-inspired design, a neon blue paint, some Xs around the frame and might even have RGB lighting. Gamers will also like the side-mounted USB-C ports, which also diverge from the traditional smartphone design used by Samsung and many other big brands.

The pricing and availability details of the Lenovo Legion gaming phone have not been released yet. Hopefully, the details would be released this winter. Till then, tech enthusiasts need to make do with the series of promotional videos that show off the device. After all, these videos have been released after months of phone rumours and some teasing posters (that leaked only one feature of the device at a time). Comparatively, the videos are way much better!
