The leaks and rumours have spread like wild fire before Apple’s expected announcement on September 12, 2018. The anticipation is really high for the event because Apple will be launching three iPhones: Apple iPhone XS in 5.8-inch will be available for all the long-term iPhone users. There will also be a new iPhone XS size of 6.5-inch (iPhone XS Plus) available to attract the users from the very competitive Android base mobile market and also a cheaper version, the iPhone 9 in 6.1-inch with an LCD screen is also expected to be on retail this year.

Friday 14—Apple iPhone XS pre-order

Friday 21—28 — Expected iPhone XS release date

The main event on September 12, 2018 will be live-streamed and the first look will be presented at the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park in San Jose, California. That’s also where iPhone X was launched on the same date last year.

As far as official release date is concerned, it could be on either September 21st or September 28th, as Apple release their iPhone sets on Fridays, after one to two weeks the CEO, Tim Cook unveils the flagship phones.

Apple’s iPhone XS Pricing & Specifications

It is expected that iPhone XS will be available for AUS $1,579 (USD $1000, £1000) while iPhone XS Plus is estimated to be sold at the price of AUS $1,714 (USD $1199, £1,199). The cheapest version will cost around AUS $1,079 (USD699, £699). The famous Android, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is priced at AUS $1,799 so the hype of competition will remain sky-high!

When it comes to specifications, some models will come in 4GB RAM and others may remain at 3GB while the new max storage option is expected to be 512GB, 64GB and 256GB will still be available as it is the case with all the pricy mobile phone models. What’s new is that all of these new iPhones will have the A12 chip, 2.9GHz, compared to A11 bonic chip of the previous versions so it will definitely provide better user experience.

IOS 12 is also expected to be released in the event. Everyone could already see this coming but expect Apple to release more surprises about the new operating system during the launch as the company usually tops up the excitement with additional reveals. It is also rumoured that dual-SIM capability will be available in these devices to tap more users from the Andriod market. Apple, once more, is taking all the competition to the battlefield against the Android.

Camera

It is predicted that the Apple iPhone XS will come with dual-lens rear camera and the cheaper version will have a single lens rear camera in a 12MP setting. The previous versions have fallen short in testing when it comes to machine learning to enhance the quality of the photos in low-light setting which is available in Samsung, Google, and other Android phones but whether Apple have addressed this in the upcoming sets is yet to be seen and tested.

Battery and New Colours

New phones are expected to have a 10% — 25 % larger battery than the iPhone X offering 3,000—3400mAh in capacity. The fast-charging feature would be available with a fast charger in the box. Whether that will be a separate purchase is yet to be revealed.

Apple’s iPhone XS and XS Plus will be available in traditional black and white colours but new colour option will be introduced, gold. The cheaper version with the LCD screen will be available in white, black, blue, orange, and red colours.
