Did you think that Elon Musk would sit quietly and take it after Porsche claimed to have broken speed records with the recently released Porsche Taycan electric car? While showing is usual temerity, Elon Musk tweeted about Tesla’s all-new Plaid Mode right away. According to Musk, this mode will allow Tesla cars to outperform Porsche cars on various levels.

Well, it’s not uncommon to see headlines such as Elon Musk slams Porsche’s electric car nowadays. After all, it looks like things between the two automotive giants are quite heated up already. Elon Musk has further revealed that the Plaid Mode is even faster as compared to the ludicrous mode. Furthermore, it’s shall be released in a year.

As of now, Tesla cars offer the Ludicrous Mode which is faster as compared to the Insane Mode which was available previously On the Ludicrous Mode, Tesla Model S accelerates from 0 to 60 mph within 2.5 seconds. In comparison to the Ludicrous Mode, the Plaid Mode will make use of three motors rather than two. Furthermore, Elon Musk has also told us that this new mode will be available on the Tesla Model X, S, and all the later models.

Regardless of Porsche’s claims, Tesla cars are quite popular. In fact, they make appearances on Netflix and YouTube videos.

Well, in case you were wondering, the Plaid Mode and Ludicrous Mode are a reference to a movie called Spaceballs. In this 1987 Star Wars parody, spaceships become ‘plaid’ when they travel faster than the light streaks.

Elon Musk was primarily triggered by Porsche’s claims. According to the sports car manufacturing giant, its four-door electric car is the fastest one to cover a lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. This 13-mile racetrack is often used by automotive manufacturers to test different cars. Furthermore, they also often compare the lap times of different cars for bragging purposes. According to Porsche, the Taycan took 7 minutes and 42 seconds to cover the track.

On Tuesday, 17 September 2019, sources citing an unnamed eyewitness with a timer, reported that a modified Tesla Model S lapped the Nordschleife, in just 7 minutes and 23 seconds, roughly 20 seconds faster than the Porsche Taycan.

The same day the news broke,  Musk said on Twitter that the new Tesla Roadster will smash the overall record by any car, may it be electric or gas, on the Nürburgring track. It seems, Tesla is trying to go after everyone.

Well, this is not the first time Elon Musk has been vocal about something. Previously, he trolled the very same car by Porsche in a viral tweet which (kind of) backfired a little.
