Fans from all over the world have been waiting for Game of Thrones Season 8 with much anticipation. Their excitement levels reached new highs when the Game of Thrones Official trailer and Game of Thrones posters were revealed.

If you are a fan of this awe-inspiring series, then your wait has ended. The first episode of the Game of Thrones Season 8 was premiered recently, and it shared more information than what the fans would have hoped for. What did it share and what’s up in the next episode? Read on to find out.

The Recap

For people who haven’t watched the show yet, here’s what it’s all about. The show revolves around an Iron Throne and the quest for it. The throne was made by a conqueror named, Aegon Targaryen, after taking over all the lands of Westeros south of the Wall (a massive wall that protects the south dwellers from the things that live in the cold wilderness up north) and whoever sits on this throne rules the seven kingdoms as shown in the Game of Thrones series.

Though there are a lot of characters who claim to be the real heir to the throne and fight among themselves and during the seven seasons of Game of Thrones, engaging in a complex of allegiances and betrayals along the way. Just to make things even more complicated, they have a bigger enemy to fight. the White Walkers or the Army of the Undead, lead by the Night King, is returning, and they are bound to wreak havoc and destory all living things they encounter. Hence, characters who lusted for power till now in the Game of Thrones seasons are still forcing their way to the Iron Throne while creating pressure on their enemies or partnering up with their loved ones to save humanity.

The phrase Winter is Coming is primarily a House word of the noble House of the Starks. It is also associated with the army of the undead. It means that, if they come to Westeros, all the kingdoms south of the Wall (where all the drama has been taking place since the first season of Game of Thrones,) the army of the undead will bring an end to them and set an eternal winter, The Long Night. Until now, even with the fighting, killing for power and civil wars, the kingdoms are ignoring the fact that things will change in Game of Thrones Season 8 as “Winter” has arrivred.

Here’s What Happened During the First Episode of Game of Thrones Season 8

It won’t be wrong to say that the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 was dedicated to reunions. Everyone from Tyrion and Sansa, to Jon and Arya saw each other after a while.

The first episode has also set the mood for some unity as more and more of the characters are uniting to fight the undead. Cersei meanwhile is happy that the dead have broken through the wall, slowly making it’s way to her enemies and she is hoping that her new found army, the Golden Company could defend her rule but she was quite disappointed when she learned that the army’s battle elephants were not sent together with her requested army.

The fans also got to see Yara Greyjoy alive, and she was rescued by her brother Theon, and they were quite on good terms again. Dany and Jon also went for a dragon ride and made out right in front of the majestic monters. Arya chats with both, The Hound and Gendry (separately). Sam and Dany reunite too, and Sam tells Jon that he is the true king, i.e., he is Aegon Targaryen, the real heir to the Iron Throne, 6th of his name. Sam also adds that he doubts whether Daenerys will give up the crown for the people as Jon did.

Tormund Giantsbane of the Wildlings and the templar Beric Dondarrion were also shown there (after the ordeal they faced during the last episode of the last season) and is reunited with Eddison Tollett, the newly appointed commander of the Night’s Watch, who survived also Season 7’s wallbreak (when most people thought he wouldn’t) and found out that the Night King continues to ravage the northern part of Westeros as a sign was left for them, the young Lord of the House Umber nailed to the wall in a very disturbing manner. During the closing moments of the Game of Thrones Season 8’s first episode, Jaime Lannister was seen arriving at Winterfell.

In essence, this episode helped the fans reconnect with what had happened post Game of Thrones Season 7 and allowed them to prepare for the remaining five episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8 that are going to be full of high-voltage drama and unreal battles.

Things are moving fast in the hectic world of Game of Thrones as Tormound informs Jon that the Night King’s army would be there before daylight. As it’s a now or never kind of a situation, Grey Worm and Missandei don’t want to miss the moment and are shown kissing.
