Two words echo in our heads whenever we think of the Mortal Kombat franchise, “Finish Him.” The iconic fighting game franchise is popular in almost all parts of the world. If you have been or are a fan of this amazing franchise, you’d be delighted to know that Mortal Kombat will reboot the saga for the 21st century. Read on to know all the details.

 

Speaking of throwbacks did you catch Rambo: Last Blood recently? Coming back to the point, Mortal Kombat, created by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinemas will be released on March 2021 and shooting of the film has already begun.

For those of you who often forget how popular franchise entertained you and you need to refresh yourself (like watching all Terminator films before the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate hits the theatres), we are here to help. Mortal Kombat first became famous in 1992 when the first game created by Midway Games in Chicago was released in arcades. As it allowed people to fight bloody and even rip out spines of the opponents, it was an instant hit. The game was so violent that it generated controversy back in the day.

 

Fast forward a few years and Mortal Kombat series became a sensation. It had multiple sequels, comics, spin-off games, and an animated series too. Two films, Mortal Kombat, and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation also released in 1995 and 1997. The story of the game is based on a simple idea that greatest warriors in the multiverse need to protect their realms and ensure they aren’t taken over by the evil Shao Kahn.

The full cast of the upcoming film was shared recently. The film is being directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan‘s. It is known as Mortal Kombat reboot. The stars and characters you can expect to see in the film are Ludi Lin as protagonist Liu Kang, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Josh Lawson as Kano, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Major Jackson Bridges or Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Lewis Tan will also be in the film but is role isn’t clear yet!
